Procurement OfficerAs the Procurement Officer, you will manage sourcing, purchasing, and vendor relationships to ensure the timely, cost-effective delivery of goods and services that support NGNRI's research and operations. You will establish and optimize procurement processes, oversee vendor selection and performance, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and standards. Working closely with scientific and operational teams, the successful candidate will support the acquisition of laboratory equipment, consumables, and specialized services. This is a critical enabling role, balancing cost, quality, and reliability to ensure NGNRI's research programs run efficiently and without interruption.About the roleDevelop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with NGNRI's operational needsManage end-to-end procurement processes, including vendor identification, sourcing, negotiation, purchasing, and contract administrationEstablish and maintain relationships with suppliers of laboratory equipment, reagents, consumables, and servicesSupport scientific teams in identifying appropriate vendors and sourcing specialized research materialsEnsure timely procurement and delivery of critical items to support ongoing research and operationsMonitor and control purchasing budgets, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficienciesEnsure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and applicable regulatory standardsMaintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and documentationCollaborate with MSU, HFH, and other partners where shared procurement or vendor arrangements are applicableEvaluate vendor performance and manage supplier riskSupport inventory planning and coordination where applicableProvide reporting and analysis on procurement activities to leadershipAbout youHigh level of integrity and professionalismDetail-oriented and highly organizedProactive and solutions-orientedStrong negotiation and problem-solving skillsCollaborative and service-oriented, with the ability to support diverse teamsAdaptable and able to respond to evolving organizational needsCommitted to supporting NGNRI's mission and valuesPreferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in a scientific, healthcare, academic, or nonprofit environmentFamiliarity with laboratory procurement, including scientific equipment, reagents, and specialized services, is strongly preferredExperience negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationshipsStrong understanding of procurement processes, compliance, and best practicesExcellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in procurement systems and standard office toolsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExperience working in a regulated or grant-funded environment is an assetBachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field preferredRelevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPPB) are an assetEquivalent experience will be consideredWhat you'll getOur team members fuel our strategy, innovation and growth, so we ensure the health and well-being of not just you, but your family, too!
