Position Overview:
UVA Health is seeking a PRN Inpatient Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to join our Behavioral Health team at Prince William Medical Center. This role is a key part of our inpatient behavioral health service line, providing high‑quality psychiatric care to a diverse patient population while supporting expanded access to mental health services across the region. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, patient-centered environment with strong administrative and clinical support.

- Remote coverage for Haymarket and Culpeper Medical Centers

Schedule & Call:
- PRN
- 7 on / 7 off schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (on‑site rounding)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient psychiatric care on the Behavioral Health Inpatient (BHIP) unit
- Manage an average daily census of 8–12 patients (on‑site and remote)
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management
- Provide consultative services within scope of practice as requested
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Deliver care in accordance with all regulatory, accreditation, and clinical standards
- Support continuity of care and patient needs during transitions
Qualifications:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
- Active Virginia medical license (or eligibility)
- Current DEA license
The base compensation range for this role is $292,910 - $373,642 for a 1.0 clinical FTE status. Individual compensation will be determined by fair market value and the selected candidate’s qualifications, clinical experience, specialty training, credentials, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs, such as productivity, quality, non‑productivity, or other incentives that may be available for eligible positions.
