Responsibilities
- Properly evaluate and interpret engineering models, engineering GD&T intent, and calibration results.
- Manage daily metrology workflow to drive efficiency and optimal resource utilization.
- Develop solutions to complex problems that require the use of ingenuity and innovative thinking.
- Perform measurements and data post‑processing using portable metrology systems such as Optical Fixtures and Motion Simulators, and analyze data using statistical software.
- Serve as the main metrology interface between engineering and metrology technicians.
- Develop and evaluate metrology calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects using PC-DMIS.
- Identify magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement processes in quantitative terms.
- Develop calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy and precision requirements using PC-DMIS.
Basic Qualifications – Principal Metrology Engineer CMM
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of experience in programming with PC-DMIS for CMM machines; Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience in programming with PC-DMIS for CMM machines.
- Experience using metrology equipment.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and interpreting engineering drawings and models.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications – Sr. Principal Metrology Engineer CMM
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of experience in programming with PC-DMIS for CMM machines; Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of experience in programming with PC-DMIS for CMM machines.
- Experience using metrology equipment.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and interpreting engineering drawings and models.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing metrology evaluations, calibration, data interpretation of optical equipment used in surveying equipment for astronomical reference north alignment.
- Experience with absolute (ROMER) ARMS using PC-DMIS.
- Experience with MetCal and SureCal.
- Experience with gage blocks to set up optical fixtures for yaw, pitch, and roll for navigation systems reference on motion simulators.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Experience with tooling, fixtures, and precision angle levels.
- Experience with mechanical metrology standards.
Compensation
Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 – $155,400.00. Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 – $193,300.00.
