The Principal Mechanical Engineer will serve as a technical leader, overseeing mechanical design efforts across multiple projects. This role involves leading teams, managing client relationships, and ensuring high-quality project delivery from concept through construction. This position is based in Downtown Honolulu and follows a hybrid work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical (MEP) design efforts for a variety of building projects, including commercial, healthcare, education, and hospitality sectors.
- Provide oversight for mechanical design deliverables, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and system layouts.
- Act as Engineer of Record (EOR) on projects as needed.
- Manage and mentor mechanical engineering staff.
- Support construction administration activities, including site observations and coordination with contractors.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 10-15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within the A/E consulting industry.
- Strong expertise in HVAC systems design across commercial and institutional projects.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Proven leadership experience managing projects and teams.
- Applicants must currently reside in Hawaii.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Experience with Revit and energy modeling tools (e.g., Trace 700, EnergyPlus).
