Principal Embedded Android Platform Architect

• Act as the primary onsite technical interface between the customer and offshore engineering team.
• Define embedded platform architecture, technical strategies, and solution approaches.
• Lead architecture and design discussions across QNX, Linux, Android, and Qualcomm platforms.
• Coordinate offshore specialists across multiple technical workstreams.
• Review architecture, design, code, test plans, and technical deliverables.
• Manage technical dependencies, risks, issues, and project priorities.
• Drive platform modernization and Linux-to-Android service migration initiatives.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across application, middleware, OS, driver, hardware, and networking layers.
• Analyze system performance and drive optimization and benchmarking activities.
• Lead technical PoCs and transition validated solutions into production.
• Present technical solutions and status updates to customer stakeholders and engineering leadership.
• Ensure offshore deliverables meet customer expectations, quality standards, and timelines.

Mandatory Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in embedded software development and platform architecture.
• Strong hands-on programming experience in C and C++ .
• Strong experience with QNX, Embedded Linux, and Android platforms.
• Deep understanding of Android architecture, including:
• Android Framework and Middleware
• Native Services
• HAL
• NDK
• JNI
• AIDL
• APEX
• Project Treble
• Strong knowledge of Linux and QNX internals, including processes, threads, IPC, scheduling, memory management, storage, networking, and system services.
• Experience developing embedded platform services, middleware, device interfaces, hardware abstraction layers, and cross-platform libraries.
• Hands-on experience with Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms , preferably in automotive or other complex embedded environments.
• Understanding of QNX Hypervisor, virtualization, and multi-OS architectures .
• Experience with system performance analysis, profiling, instrumentation, benchmarking, and optimization.
• Knowledge of embedded observability, telemetry, diagnostics, health monitoring, logging, and remote debugging.
• Experience with embedded security concepts including secure boot, key management, certificates, signing, TPM/TEE, secure updates, and network security.
• Understanding of on-device AI architecture, model deployment, edge-AI constraints, and Qualcomm AI technologies.
• Experience with Linux-to-Android service migration and embedded platform modernization.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across the complete embedded technology stack.
• Proven experience leading customer-facing technical discussions and distributed engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, documentation, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Qualcomm AI Engine and QNN SDK .
• Automotive IVI, ADAS , connected vehicle, IFE, transportation, airline, or connected-device experience.
• Experience with multimedia platforms, including audio, video, Bluetooth, and network audio.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, USB, CAN, Ethernet, and TCP/IP .
• Knowledge of Linux device drivers, bootloaders, secure boot, and power management.
• Experience with GDB, QNX Momentics, ADB, Logcat, Perfetto, Valgrind , and similar diagnostic/profiling tools.
• Exposure to SAST, DAST, static analysis, security analysis, and code-quality tools.
• Experience with Git, GitLab, CI/CD, Docker , and virtualized development environments.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Jira, Confluence , and requirements-management tools.
• Experience developing technical PoCs and taking concepts through production development.
