The Company

Based in Danbury, Connecticut for more than 60 years, PMC-STS Inc. (formerly PMC Engineering LLC) designs and manufactures high-performance precision sensor products for pressure, level and temperature measurement. The company serves demanding industrial and technical markets including Aerospace, Water, Oil & Gas, Paper, Motor-Sport and other specialized applications. PMC-STS is recognized for product quality, technical competence and close customer relationships.

PMC-STS is part of the STS Group, headquartered near Zurich, Switzerland. STS develops advanced pressure measurement technologies and gives PMC-STS access to a broader international technology, engineering and manufacturing platform. The combination creates a strong basis for further expansion of the North American business.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an ambitious, accomplished, entrepreneurial and hands-on President to lead PMC-STS and its approximately 40 employees. The President has broad responsibility for the US business and reports directly to the Group CEO in Switzerland.

The President leads a management team of approximately 5-6 direct reports covering the principal business functions. In selected areas, team leaders provide an additional level of operational leadership. The PMC-STS management team also works with STS Group functional leaders through dotted-line relationships to align global programs, systems and platforms. A local Board supports the President with North American market intelligence and networking; it is advisory and not an additional reporting line.

Role mission: profitably grow PMC-STS in North America while strengthening its operational capabilities, preserving its strong US market identity, and leveraging the technology and resources of the wider STS Group.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Financial Leadership

•

Own the financial and operational performance of PMC-STS, including revenue, profitability, cash generation and working capital.

•

Lead the annual planning, budgeting and forecasting process and use clear KPIs to drive performance and accountability.

•

Allocate resources and capital with a strong focus on return, margin improvement and sustainable growth.

Commercial Growth & Customers

•

Develop and execute the North American growth strategy in alignment with the STS Group strategy.

•

Identify and prioritize attractive market segments, applications and customers; increase market share, brand recognition and profitable organic growth.

•

Maintain close relationships with key customers and ensure the right balance between customer responsiveness, technical customization and profitable business.

Operations & Execution

•

Oversee the local organization through the management team and team leaders, including Finance, Operations, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, IT, Quality, supply chain/procurement and facilities.

•

Strengthen operational disciplines and best practices in demand generation, funnel management, lean manufacturing, planning, quality, safety and data-driven decision-making.

•

Lead the continued integration of PMC-STS into STS systems and processes, with ERP (MS F&O) implementation as a key enabler of efficiency and transparency.

People & Organization

•

Lead, develop and hold accountable a high-performing management team while maintaining an engaged, pragmatic and customer-oriented culture.

•

Strengthen organizational capabilities, clarify responsibilities and decision rights, and develop key talent and succession within the business.

•

Ensure effective communication across functions and create a culture that combines accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Technology & Market Position

•

Ensure PMC-STS presents the right US market image and value proposition to customers, partners and the industries it serves.

•

Support customer-specific product development and application engineering while leveraging STS Group technology platforms.

•

Contribute strategic input on new technologies, adjacent markets and, where appropriate, complementary acquisition opportunities.

Group Integration & Governance

•

Work closely with the Group CEO and global functional leaders while retaining appropriate local speed, accountability and market orientation.

•

Preserve and strengthen PMC-STS's US identity while effectively leveraging the engineering discipline, resources and long-term orientation of its Swiss/European parent group.

•

Ensure appropriate compliance, risk management and governance for the US business.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a technically credible, commercially minded general manager who is comfortable operating close to customers, products and operations. The role suits a leader who can move easily between strategy and hands-on execution in a medium-sized industrial business.

•

Engineering or other relevant technical degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics or a closely related field.

•

Demonstrated general-management and business acumen, including responsibility for P&L performance, budgeting, forecasting and operational decision-making.

•

A strong track record in industrial B2B businesses, ideally involving engineered or customer-specific products, niche applications and moderate production volumes.

•

Commercial strength developed through roles such as product management, sales management, strategic marketing, business development or general management, combined with a sound understanding of manufacturing and operational processes.

•

Experience with pressure transducers, silicon or ceramic sensing technology is highly desirable; strong experience with other sensor technologies or technical measurement products will also be considered.

•

Ability to build profitable business models around customer-specific solutions, balancing technical requirements, service levels, production efficiency and margin.

•

Strong people leadership: able to set clear expectations, develop managers and team leaders, make decisions and create accountability while building trust, create followership, and maintain empathy and strong interpersonal skills.

•

Comfortable using financial, commercial and operational data and KPIs to identify issues, prioritize actions and track results.

•

Strategic curiosity and the ability to contribute beyond the current business boundaries, including new markets, technologies, partnerships and selected acquisition opportunities.

•

Cultural awareness and experience working across US and European organizations. The successful candidate will understand the importance of preserving PMC-STS's US customer orientation and local speed and accountability while working effectively within a Swiss/European group environment.

What We Offer

•

A genuine President / General Manager mandate with broad responsibility for the US business and direct access to the Group CEO.

•

The opportunity to materially shape and grow an established US industrial technology company while benefiting from the resources and technology platform of an international group.

•

Meaningful autonomy, short decision paths and the ability to make a visible impact across commercial, operational and organizational priorities.

•

A stable, privately owned and long-term-oriented company environment.

•

An experienced, multi-disciplinary team with deep product and customer knowledge.

•

A competitive compensation package including Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Life Insurance and 401(k) with company match.
