Job Description

The main function of a system power engineer is to research, design, develop, and test high-density, industry-leading wearable electronics. The candidate will work with emerging technologies in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and drive project plans, including creating new designs and modifications of existing designs.
  • Drive product prototypes, working models, or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
  • Design and review system power architecture. Model and characterize power for a wide selection of new technologies under investigation.
  • Write detailed functional specifications and design flow/tradeoff analyses.
  • Support the introduction of new technologies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to engineering staff and consult on specifications to evaluate power requirements of the overall system. Provide training and support to system integrators, product owners, and users.
  • Supervise technicians, engineering designers, or other technical support personnel as needed.
  • Evaluate deliverables in hardware design, prototype builds, documentation, and cross-functional team communications.

Skills

  • Strong EE fundamentals in power and analog domains, with in-depth knowledge of power converter topologies, system architecture, and characterization.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and differential probes.
  • Ability to manage projects with high ambiguity, multiple paths, and unclear future directions.
  • Experience in consumer electronics and vendor/contract manufacturer collaboration is a plus.
  • Understanding of battery systems, thermal management, and system integration is a plus.
  • Knowledge of wireless charging technology is a plus.
  • Experience in developing automated tests and validation processes is a plus.
  • Experience in power modeling in consumer technology is highly advantageous.
