Job Description
Position pay will start near or at Top Step.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a valid CA POST Academy Certificate
- Must have completed a CA POST Certified FTO Program
- Must possess a CA Basic Post Certificate
The ideal candidate:
- Has a High School Diploma or GED equivalency; higher education preferred
- Has a valid California driver's license and a safe driving record
- Is 21 years of age at time of appointment
- Can write clear and comprehensive reports and communicate effectively orally
- Has Spanish bilingual skill highly desirable
- Can skillfully and effectively deal with various racial, ethnic and economic groups
- Can work under physical and mental pressures and in potentially hazardous situations as determined by a pre-employment psychological exam
- Is willing to work night shifts and weekends
- Has physical health, strength, stature and agility to meet physical demands of police work as determined by an agility test and a pre-employment physical exam
- Has vision correctable to 20/30 in each eye. Normal color acuity; non-restricted peripheral vision
- Has not used or possessed a drug classified as a hallucinogenic within 5 years prior to application for employment
- Has not used or possessed other illegal drugs (including cocaine) within 3 years prior to application for employment
- Is legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law but does not have to be a U.S. citizen or applying for citizenship
