As a Physician - OB Hospitalist, you will provide and coordinate patient care in accordance with Ochsner’s core values: Patients First, Integrity, Compassion, Inclusivity, Teamwork, and Excellence. The successful candidate will:
- Examine patients to diagnose clinical conditions and prescribe appropriate medication, treatments, and follow‑up care.
- Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
- Provide direct and indirect care by working with a multidisciplinary team to formulate treatment plans.
- Document patient encounters in the Electronic Health Record in a timely manner.
- Request additional medical evaluations and make referrals as necessary.
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and hold others to those standards.
- Collaborate with all department members to provide quality patient care.
- Ensure accurate coding of all patient visits.
- Comply with policies, procedures, bylaws, and standards of care that align with accreditation, state and federal licensure, Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements.
- Board certified or eligible for certification in the physician’s primary specialty.
- Licensed practicing provider (MD/DO).
- Credentialed and willing to maintain clinical practice.
- Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the area of responsibility.
- Compliance & Privacy Program adherence, including immediate reporting of unethical or questionable behaviors.
- Physical demands: Light work (exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, etc.) and ability to travel within and between facilities.
- Handling of hazardous drugs and contaminated products as required.
