nDepartment: Community Pharmacies FTE: 1.0 (80 hours per pay period) Workdays: Monday - Friday Shift(s): Day Shift Length: 8 hours Location: In-Person Other: This float role provides coverage across five off-site locations as needed. This will be a float technician position for Offsite pharmacies. These locations include Whittier, Richfield, North Loop, St Anthony and Brooklyn Park. Free parking & no weekends
n*Purpose of this position:*Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community.
nRESPONSIBILITIES:
n- n
- Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel n
- Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies n
- Prepackages, prepares, labels, and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist n
- Maintains cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactions n
- Prepares daily deposits for the cashier’s office n
- Bills and credits patient medications n
- Stocks inventory in Pharmacy n
- Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications n
- Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled n
- Files prescriptions and reports n
- Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion n
- Enters outpatient prescriptions n
- Obtains and records patient drug histories n
- Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders, and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate n
- Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight n
- Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order n
- Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed n
- Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols n
- Maintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs n
- Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations n
- Responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications n
- Coordinates ordering and delivery of medications, supplies, and equipment to patients and clinical areas as requested n
- Completes intake process for mail service, specialty, transplant, and limited distribution pharmacy patients including new patient enrollment, insurance verification, and medication refill and delivery schedule n
- Documents in the EMR or other database applicable patient interactions according to specialty pharmacy practices n
- Performs patient tracking, processing of patient specialty medication claims, customer service, issue resolution and/or escalation n
- Requests and follows up on refill requests, processes Medicare and transplant claims and works on high level adjudicated claims n
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to: back up phone coverage, data collection, reporting, process improvement, and maintenance of patient education materials n
QUALIFICATIONS /Minimum Qualifications /

- High School Diploma or GED n
- Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State Board n
- PTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee n

- Insurance and Billing Experience n
- Experience working with specialty medications in a health system setting n
- Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experience n
