Director of Pharmacy
Location: Memphis, TN | Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full‑Time | Compensation: $145,000–$220,000 annually | Relocation Assistance: Available for qualified candidates.
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Director of Pharmacy to lead pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy services for a healthcare organization in Memphis, TN. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing medication management, pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, financial performance, quality improvement initiatives, and staff development while ensuring safe, effective, and compliant medication practices. The ideal candidate has extensive hospital pharmacy leadership experience, a strong clinical background, and a proven ability to lead pharmacy operations in an acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct all pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy services.
- Lead and oversee the organization's medication‑use process.
- Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and accreditation standards.
- Recruit, hire, mentor, evaluate, and retain pharmacy staff.
- Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets.
- Lead medication safety initiatives and continuous quality improvement programs.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Evaluate pharmacy services and implement operational and clinical best practices.
- Review and update departmental policies annually and as regulatory requirements change.
- Monitor departmental performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of pharmacy experience, including at least 3 years of hospital pharmacy leadership or management experience, and experience leading pharmacy operations in an acute care hospital.
- Licensure & Certifications: Active Tennessee Pharmacist License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pharmacy Residency or Fellowship.
- Master's degree.
- Experience leading pharmacy operations within an acute care hospital.
- Strong knowledge of medication management, pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, budgeting, accreditation standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
