Overview
Vibra Hospital of SE Michigan - DMC Campus, located in Detroit, MI, is a 28‑bed critical care hospital providing acute care services to patients recovering from serious illnesses or injuries. Patients often require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions such as trauma, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular disease, stroke, amputation, and ventilator weaning. As a smaller, specialized hospital, we offer an opportunity to work in a fast‑paced and friendly environment where you really get to know your patients and their families.
We are seeking a PRN Pharmacist to join our team.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for filling and dispensing medication orders, including proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. • Maintain standards set forth by the department and translate policies and procedures into daily operations. • Act as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy, drug‑related information, and literature. • Coordinate, in conjunction with medical staff and nursing, the delivery of quality and cost‑effective drug therapies to patients. • Participate in the hospital Antibiotic Stewardship Program with a focus on patient safety and public health. • Demonstrate competency in providing pharmaceutical care to patients of all relevant age groups. • Provide leadership in the absence of the Director as assigned.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Science Degree from a College/School of Pharmacy required.
- Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Pharmacist in the state of employment required.
Additional Qualifications/Skills
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred.
- Experience with pharmacokinetics and anticoagulation preferred.
- TPN experience preferred.
- Current, valid and active BLS and ACLS certifications from a Vibra‑approved vendor preferred. Previous acute‑care experience preferred.
- Experience with automated pharmacy dispensing and IV laminar flow hood.
- Electronic medical records experience preferred. Ability to project a professional image.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
- Freedom from illegal use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
