Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate delivery and accounting of salaries, wages, commission, and incentive payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Process (US/CA) payrolls to ensure all employees, tax authorities, benefit providers, and other third parties are paid accurately and on time every month across multiple entities.
- Being the main point of contact with our payroll provider, ADP.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance), manage ad hoc queries from employees especially in relation to employee payments.
- Prepare payroll accounting journals, vacation accruals and perform P_P and Balance Sheet reconciliations every month to ensure all payroll data is correctly posted in the financial systems.
- Participate in financial periodic audits, employee benefits audits, annual employee benefits selections, annual 401k company match audits and true‑up process, Non‑discrimination testing, among others.
- Develop/maintain good relationships and serves as key liaison between the human resources, Treasury and finance department to maintain accurate employee payroll information and problem‑solve issues as and when they arise.
- Recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve internal procedures, the efficiency/accuracy of the payroll function.
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures compliance with agencies legislation regarding employment and employee matters.
- Other duties may be assigned such as new payroll implementation, continuous improvement projects, reconciliation of employee data from Workday and ADP records, among others
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four‑year college or university and a minimum of 10 years of related experience. Experience of international payroll (European, Middle East) is desirable.

- Very good mathematical skills, understanding relationship between numbers is essential and good understanding of payroll accounting is important
- Must be able to demonstrate sufficient understanding in the area of payroll taxes.
- Previous experience with ADP Workforce Now and/or ADP Streamline, Oracle R12, and Workday is desirable.
- Must be very proficient in working with Excel, performing data manipulations confidently using different Excel tools and have a good eye for details to be able to spot errors whilst working under pressure.
- Ability to validate W2, 1099 for US and T4/T2200 for CA
- Be familiar with 401k, HSA and FSA for US and RRSP/EHT/CNESST for CA
- Other European languages can be an asset.
