Job Description

A local city government is looking for a part-time Economic Development Marketing Specialist to join the Community Development team. Core responsibilities during the assignment include:

• Completing an Enhance Environmental Scan: The work is to analyze and consolidate existing plans (i.e. Economic Strategic Plan, Equitable Engagement Plan), data and inventory and obtain additional data to move the project forward.

• Identify stakeholders to collaborate in the Marketing Strategy Plan. This deliverable will outline where to get the necessary data in the development of the strategic plan and begin the discussions with key stakeholders.

• Develop the RFP and scope of the Marketing Strategy Plan. Utilizing the data collected in deliverables 1 and 2, the position will develop the Request for Proposal (RFP) and scope which the city will be able to use to hire a consulting firm to complete the Marketing Strategy Plan.

This person must have knowledge of local municipalities / government plans + RFP's as whole, understand core marketing principles, have project management tool and method understanding, and be able to construct actionable / clear communication across the community.

Must be comfortable working onsite 2-3 days a week in Tigard, 24-hours a week total. Flexible on what days M-Thurs that you will be working.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Economic Development, or a related field;

  • Core project management, analysis, research understanding

  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in economic development marketing, strategic communications, branding, business development, public engagement, or a related field.

  • Experience developing and managing public sector marketing campaigns or economic development initiatives is highly desirable.
