Paralegal - Office Of Legal Counsel - Louisiana Supreme CourtThe Office of Legal Counsel to the Judiciary Commission seeks a paralegal to assist with monthly Commission meetings, legal filings of cases, Commission follow-up, and various other paraprofessional tasks. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Must be detail-oriented, as well as able to write and proof well.

Candidates must have a paralegal certification from an accredited school or college (or equivalent experience) and five to eight years of related experience is preferred. Excellent benefits and paid parking.Key responsibilities:Maintains and updates case management software, analyzes data, generates reportsAssists attorneys with case monitoringGenerates various legal documents including correspondence, agendas, ballots, etc.Assists with maintaining list of screened out files for member review and ratificationAssists with distributing meeting materials to Commission membersAssists with compiling record of Commission proceedings for submission to Supreme CourtAssists with clocking-in case filingsPerforms legal research or other duties for special projects as assignedKnowledge, skills, and abilities:Knowledge of criminal and civil procedural law and the administrative operations of the various state courtsKnowledge of legal terminology, principles, and practicesKnowledge of the organization and structure of the judicial systemKnowledge of legal resources needed to research case lawKnowledge of computer software for document managementAbility to read and interpret laws, rules, and guidelines, and apply them to specific circumstancesAbility to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with othersAbility to gather a great amount of information vital to the resolution of pending matters in the most efficient and concise mannerAbility to follow detailed instructions, often given verbally, and to work independently under general supervisionEOE/M/F/V/D
