Working under the supervision of Judge Advocate Generals (attorneys), Paralegal specialists help provide legal counsel and services to their clients. These legal experts work in a wide range of legal practices doing everything from research and interviews to processing cases and discovery management in order to ensure the law, order and discipline of the Air Force.What you'll doConduct legal research and make final legal recommendations for the Staff Judge AdvocateDevelop and maintain legal assistance materials and resources for clientsProvide administrative and litigation support for all judicial and nonjudicial mattersInterview clients and determine eligibility for legal assistanceTraining & EducationHow do we transform you from a raw recruit to an expert Airman in this field?

These concern your background, overall health and other standards set by the Air Force, Department of Defense and federal law.You must be 17–42 years of age and obtain a qualifying ASVAB score. High School Students may start their application as early as the end of their junior year.

Applicants who are non-graduates or non-alternate credential holders must obtain an AFQT Test score of 65 or higher on the ASVAB.Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; speak clearly and distinctlyAbility to keyboard at a minimum rate of 25 words per minuteNo significant record of emotional instability, personality disorder, or other unresolved mental health concerns that may impair the paralegal duty function, or risk to the missionNo record of substance abuse, domestic violence, or child abuseNo convictions by courts-martialNo convictions by a civilian court, except for minor traffic violations and similar infractionsParalegal Applicant Fact Sheet and Writing SampleTier 3 Investigation (National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit) in accordance with DoDM and AFMAN Completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military TrainingMust be between the ages of 18 and have not reached your 42nd birthdayHave a current passing fitness scoreHave an AF Form 422 with a PULHES of at least 3 and a medical recommendationMust be interviewed by and complete a 10-day observation period with the wing legal officeMust have a signed recommendation from the wing legal office Staff Judge Advocate and Law Office Superintendent, and 5J MFM or CFM approval
