Operations Manager/Engineer, Field OperationsThe Operations Manager/Engineer, Field Operations functions with an engineering-first, AI-driven operating model. This role owns regional day-to-day logistics execution while architecting and automating workflows across brokerage, trucking, and field coordination. The mandate is systems design — building repeatable, AI-enabled processes that scale across regions.This is not a conventional logistics manager.
It is an engineering leadership role embedded in real-world operations. They combine:Trucking/logistics fluencySystems thinking and workflow automation capabilityEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Own regional transportation execution to ensure customer capacity commitments are consistently metServe as the operational authority across carriers, fleet assets, and field coordination within the assigned regionDrive regional KPIs including utilization, turn times, carrier performance, and safety metricsAct as primary escalation point for operational disruptions and customer-impacting events, ensuring rapid resolutionMaintain complete visibility and accountability for fleet and asset status, including readiness, custody, and maintenance requirementsBuild and manage a high-performing regional carrier network through recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance managementDesign and deploy AI-enabled workflows for carrier sourcing, dispatch optimization, onboarding, compliance, and field communicationsDevelop scalable playbooks and SOPs that replace manual processes and standardize execution across regionsOwn regional financial metrics including cost analysis, pricing awareness, capacity planning, and strategic growth supportQualifications/Skills:Required Items:Bachelor's degree in engineering3+ years of experience in a technical engineering roleSystems-oriented mindset with ability to build workflowsComfort working with AI tools and automation platformsAbility to operate independently in high-ambiguity environmentsWillingness to travel up to 25% within regionDemonstrate a strong nutrition facts show in this blog postCompensation: Starting at $125kBenefits: At VORTO we are committed to developing our employees and providing them exciting opportunities to grow and prosper in their careers.
