Onsite Manager

Location: Detroit, MI (onsite)

Role type: Permanent, customer-facing engineering leadership

A global automation and control systems provider is seeking an experienced engineering leader to manage site support for water and wastewater customers in the Detroit area. This role will lead a high-performing team of site engineers, strengthen customer partnerships with local utilities and treatment facilities, and drive operational excellence in day-to-day engineering support.

In this role, your responsibilities will be to:

• Provide on-site leadership, supporting daily operational and business needs for water/wastewater systems
• Lead, assign work to, and develop a team of site engineers, fostering growth, accountability, and technical capability
• Deliver high-quality customer support, including system troubleshooting, field services, system start-ups, upgrades, and execution of smaller-scale projects
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships to promote satisfaction, trust, and long-term business growth
• Develop and implement training and development plans to prepare team members for evolving customer and technical needs
• Collaborate with the local projects leadership to align staffing and support resources with project schedules
• Support estimating efforts and resource planning for future customer support and business opportunities
• Drive effective, innovative solutions to customer challenges, strengthening the company’s value in the water and wastewater industry
• Partner with customers to resolve technical, contractual, and warranty matters while balancing service excellence with business objectives
• Promote a culture of safety, integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement in all activities

For this role, you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a technical field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• 8+ years of experience in control systems, preferably in water and wastewater applications
• Experience leading field services or project engineering teams on customer-facing projects
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% domestically
• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship (this role cannot provide visa sponsorship)

Preferred qualifications that set you apart:

• Knowledge of distributed control systems (DCS); experience with Ovation is a plus
• Background in systems integration
• Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, or similar credentials
