The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to manage the day-to-day clinical care and activities at the PepsiCo Denver (Pecos), CO onsite clinic. The position reports directly to the Regional Manager for the PepsiCo/JHU partnership. The position also works closely with the Medical Director, and Division Administrator of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    Provide on-site services forty (40) hours per week at the PepsiCo clinic in Denver (Pecos), CO.

    n

  • n

    Triage and treat, as appropriate, minor work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Dispense over the counter and prescription medications in accordance with pre-established standing orders to employees with minor work-related and non-work-related concerns (back pain, headache, and pharyngitis).

  • n

    Provide on-site specimen/lab collection for employees presenting lab orders from their PCP.

  • n
  • n

    Perform urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing in accordance with company protocol.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Provide on-site assessments for acute and chronic illnesses, such as strep pharyngitis, UTI, influenza, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and hypoglycemia.

  • n

    Provide support and case management for both work-related and non-work-related conditions to reduce illness and absenteeism.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Coordinate second opinions for employees absent due to workers' compensation or disability, as necessary in adherence with company protocols.

  • n

    Coordinate annual seasonal influenza vaccination program.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Coordinate, plan, and deliver monthly health education seminars and general wellness events.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Provide referrals for PepsiCo employees who need the attention of a primary care physician or perform on-site physical assessments (DOT, return to work, work-related injuries) as required by PepsiCo.

  • n

    Work collaboratively with patients and their PCP/Specialist to facilitate early diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health problems.

  • n

    Specialist in adherence to company protocols.

  • n
  • n

    Provide on-site patient education regarding illnesses, medications, treatments, etc.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Participate in case presentations and other opportunities to foster academic mission and clinical excellence

Administrative services provided to PepsiCo include

    n
  • n

    Maintain and revise, as needed, standardized procedures, protocols, and standing orders.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Maintain adequate clinical supplies.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Maintain Letter of Permit Exception with the Colorado Department of Health/CLIA required for lab testing provided on-site.

  • n

    Maintain patient electronic medical records.

    n
  • n
n

Work collaboratively with the Benefits and Safety teams

    n
  • n

    To coordinate and plan health and wellness events and initiatives.

    n
  • n
  • n

    To manage workers’ compensation claims.

  • n
  • n

    To expand clinic services and reach.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Provide crisis management/intervention, as needed

  • n
  • n

    Provide general medical advice to the PepsiCo Human Resources and Safety/Risk Management departments.

  • n

    Ensure the provision of prompt, appropriate clinical care to all patients in accordance with PepsiCo and Johns Hopkins University protocols, State regulations, and professional standards.

    Develop relationships with clinical providers in the area to provide back-up clinical care.

  • n

    Ensure timely and appropriate problem resolution and follow-up to PepsiCo employees as required.

  • n

    Participating in clinical learning presentations with the client or the clinical team

  • n

    Ensure PepsiCo's onsite clinic facilities are neat, clean, and attractive.

  • n

    Develop and implement new administrative policies and procedures as needed to ensure the smooth operation of PepsiCo's onsite clinics.

    Ensure all patients receive prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional attention to their needs and requests.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Analytical ability is necessary to evaluate and determine the health status of patients and implement proper care.

    Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach, and counsel patients and interact with clients/employers.

    A comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult medicine, patient care procedures, medical protocols, and testing procedures is necessary.

    Must have general computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized medical information systems.

Minimum Qualifications

n
    n
  • n

    Master’s Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner

    n
  • n
  • n

    Must be licensed in the state where practicing.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Current CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment.

  • n
  • n

    Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

    n
  • n

    Minimum of twelve months of related experience (adult medicine).

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience in Occupational Medicine, Workers’ Compensation, and DOT exams.

    n
  • n
  • n

    DOT Medical Examiner preferred.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Certified Urine Drug Screen Collector preferred.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Certified Breath Alcohol Technician preferred.
