Role Overview: Assists a nuclear medicine physician in performing and evaluating clinical procedures within the Nuclear Medicine department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs nuclear medicine procedures, radiopharmaceutical therapies, and patient positioning with proper protocols and patient counseling.
  • Schedules studies, ensures correct procedures, maintains records, and collaborates with staff for smooth operations.
  • Follows safety protocols, verifies patient identity, manages radioactive materials, and documents all activities accurately.
  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals, assists in radionuclide therapy, and maintains radiation safety standards.
  • Processes and analyzes data, prepares images for interpretation, and transmits to PACS.
  • Maintains equipment, provides compassionate patient care, explains procedures, and ensures safety measures.
  • Participates in emergency response, supervises students, and mentors new staff.
  • Performs waste management, adheres to radiation protection policies, and documents safety procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum two years of nuclear medicine technologist experience and one year of general radiology experience.
  • Associates degree in a diagnostic imaging field; certification from recognized boards.
  • Current nuclear medicine technologist certification and BLS certification.
  • Experience with radiopharmaceutical management and radionuclide therapy preferred.
  • Additional skills include knowledge of SPECT, nuclear cardiology imaging, and mentoring abilities.
