Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Per Diem, Day Shift

Job Summary

Administers radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment. Administers medical substances for imaging or other procedures. Performs screening procedures for diagnostic interpretation. Coordinates patient flow and maintains procedure quality control.

Education and Work Experience

• Diploma or certificate from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine (Required)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or equivalent (Preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

• Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Required in OR)
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine, or Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Required in CA and OR)

Facility‑Specific License/Certifications

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or National Nuclear Med Tech (NMTCB) (Required)

Essential Functions

• Prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment. Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate doses to be administered by radiologists. Subject patients to radiation. Execute blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following standard laboratory techniques. Administer intravenous injections in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform screening procedures for diagnostic interpretation.
• Document all pertinent information regarding radioactive materials and conduct surveys in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Obtain pertinent patient information and disseminate subsequent patient preparation instructions to patient care areas.
• Elevate questions, problems, and significant challenges to more senior staff for direction or subject‑matter expertise.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
