Overview

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for providing quality patient‑centered care within the legal scope of practice and in line with federal, state, local laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the employing healthcare institution. The technologist works under their own license, maintains quality of care, demonstrates continued competence, and engages in lifelong learning.

Shift & Schedule

Fulltime, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Essential Functions / Performance Expectations

  • Practice technology based on theoretical knowledge and concepts, using equipment and accessories designed for their intended purposes.
  • Assess situations, exercise care, discretion, and judgment; assume responsibility for professional decisions and act in the best interest of the patient.
  • Act as an agent of observation and communication to obtain pertinent information for physician diagnosis and treatment, recognizing that interpretation and diagnosis are outside the scope of practice.
  • Use equipment, radiopharmaceuticals, and accessories, employ techniques and procedures, perform services in accordance with accepted standards of practice, and minimize radiation exposure to the patient, self, and other healthcare team members.

Education and Experience

  • Current State of Texas Medical Board license for Radiologic Technologist or in process of obtaining.
  • Successful completion of an AMA‑approved technology training program.
  • ARRT (N) registered or CNMT registered.
  • Initial and annual continuing education as required by Total Joint and Spine Center: 1.5 hours per year.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, speak, hear, and see. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs (clinical staff) or 50 lbs (non‑clinical staff); use of an assisted‑lift device or assistance is required for loads exceeding these limits.
