The Queen Emma Tower 4D/5D Neuroscience ICU (NSICU) is a 16-bed ICU. The NSICU is dedicated to the care of trauma patients and patients with neurological illness. The Queen's Medical Center - Honolulu has the only dedicated NSICU in the State of Hawaii and supports Hawaii’s first (and currently only) TJC Comprehensive Stroke Center, the only American College of Surgeons Level I Trauma Center and only NAEC Level IV Epilepsy Center.

QET 4D/5D NSICU provides care for adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients. The most frequent admissions/diagnoses include post-op from neurosurgical or neurointerventional procedures, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, ischemic stroke, intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhage, CNS tumors, status epilepticus, and neuromuscular illnesses such as Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and myasthenia gravis.

The NSICU can also provide care to overflow medical, surgical, and cardiac ICU patients

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an NSICU RN - Neuroscience/Trauma ICU at The Queen's Medical Center, located in Honolulu, HI. The primary responsibilities include delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in the neuroscience and trauma intensive care unit. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, administering treatments and medications, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and providing support to patients and their families. The RN will ensure compliance with protocols and maintain up-to-date patient records while adhering to best practices in critical care medicine.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Neuroscience and Trauma Critical Care
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Hawaii (or eligibility for licensure)
  • Advanced Certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Current PALS certification. If not certified upon hire, must obtain within three (3) months of entrance into the position.
  • Current NIHSS Certification
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multidisciplinary teams and patients
  • Compassionate and patient-centered care approach
  • Previous experience in a neuroscience or trauma-intensive care unit preferred
