Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MRI examinations according to physician orders and departmental protocols.


• Conduct and document daily MRI system quality-control checks in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements.


• Review patients' medical histories and clinical information to determine exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications.


• Screen patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance, including implanted devices, metal objects, and other safety concerns.


• Prepare and administer IV contrast materials according to established safety procedures and monitor patients for adverse reactions.


• Follow patient-identification, informed-consent, and time-out procedures before examinations.


• Operate MRI scanners, injectors, monitoring equipment, and other imaging technology safely and effectively.


• Position patients appropriately and comfortably, using suitable coils and immobilization techniques.


• Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR) and PACS.


• Educate patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast administration, and safety precautions.


• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked MRI examination rooms.


• Stay updated on evolving MRI safety standards and participate in continuing education.


• Provide MRI safety education and support, including implant screening, device clearance, and staff training.


• Participate in MRI safety incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action recommendations when required.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Knowledge of MRI procedures and MRI scanners.


• Strong understanding of MRI safety.


• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and people from diverse backgrounds.


• Ability to adapt to and learn new technologies.


• General computer and PACS skills are preferred.


• Basic IV skills are preferred.


• Knowledge of general physics and anatomy is preferred.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent: Required

Experience

• 1+ year of relevant work experience: Preferred

Licensure & Certifications

Candidates must hold one of the following:

• Registered Technologist – Magnetic Resonance Imaging R.T.(MR)(ARRT) , or


• American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT )

Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification: Required

Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO): Preferred

Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit and state regulations.
