The Mold Maker is responsible for the maintenance, repair, modification, and assembly of plastic injection molds to support safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role utilizes precision machining, troubleshooting, and tooling expertise to ensure molds perform reliably and meet production requirements.Duties/Responsibilities:Disassemble mold tooling for cleaning and repairWorks from blue prints, sketches, general instructions to disassemble, inspect, repair, and assemble various molds, tools, and mechanical equipmentPerforms final fitting operations on purchased / repaired components for proper assemblyPerforms the highly critical assembly operations, refitting, re-venting or making adjustments as necessary for the mold to achieve designed objectivesAnswers troubled calls from Manufacturing departments as requiredMaintains equipment maintenance and repair history records, details of work performed, parts replaced, and the labor hours, as requiredOperate machine shop equipment (Mill, Surface grinder, Lathe)EDM, CNC experience is a plusConstructs and repairs machine shop tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs or dies for use within the establishmentSolves problems relating to unusual material, work-holding arrangements, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production processMay provide guidance to lower level toolmakersPerforms mold repair work on cavities and cores due to damage or wearDisassembles and assembles molds, analyzes and solves basic mold problems including flashing conditions, galling, venting, cooling problems, Assembles, repairs, inspects, cleans and polishes molds using skill and care while handling and polishing critical surfacesTrouble shoot and repair all brands of Hot runner systemsCompletes Engineering changes and revisions to moldsManufactures new or repairs existing mold components as requiredInterprets drawings and evaluates machining methods on assignments requiring instructions from Toolroom Supervisor only on intricate machining setupsPerform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensionsMay recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on "machine-ability" or fabrication problems encounteredStones and polishes mold componentsPlan, lay out and perform all bench, machine and finishing operations required to alter and condition intricately designed and constructed plastic injection molds and related fixturesRequirements:High School Diploma/GED and 3 – 4 years as Toolmaker Level I or equivalent experienceMust be familiar with electrical and hydraulic circuits using diagrams, blueprints, and electrical circuit test meters and methodsAbility to read and write English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprintsAbility to perform basic math and interpret and executive work instructionsAbility to work overtime as neededAbility to read safety, quality, and manufacturing instructionsPossess the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure.Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and divisionAbility to effectively coordinate and monitor a teamAbility to work independently in a fast pace, constant changing environmentStrong sense of urgencyAccountabilitySelf-motivation and the desire to focus to improve the business.Work Environment:Manufacturing environment exposed to dust, odors, and noiseAbout Lasko ProductsLove Your Air™Lasko Products is the leading air solutions brand with a reputation for reliable products, peak performance, and perpetual innovation – our commitment to our customers for over a century.
