Milieu Specialist - Night Shift Per Diem

Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility) is a 144‑bed behavioral health facility that offers a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs for adolescents, adults, and older adults. The facility also provides behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day and programs for co‑occurring behavioral health and substance use issues.

Responsibilities

The Milieu Specialist provides therapeutic milieu management, training of MHTs, and monitoring of the hospital units. Milieu management includes program content and philosophy, patient management training, environmental management, and staff competency. The role involves training and supporting multidisciplinary staff to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.

Position Summary

This position is a per diem Milieu Specialist on the night shift, responsible for overseeing patient care in a dynamic inpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in psychology or similar social sciences from an accredited college or university is required.
• Five years of professional experience in a mental health hospital setting is required.
• Experience as a Lead MHT.
• Current certification as a Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention instructor is required or must be obtained within five months of starting the role.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to provide feedback and mentor existing and newly hired employees.
• Current certification in BLS/CPR is required.

Work Hours

This is a per‑diem position for 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m. shifts and requires availability to work rotating weekends and holidays.
