Position Summary
The Master of Healthcare (MHA) Administration Program and School ofPublic Health (SPH) seek applications for a part-time (50% or 20hours per week) MHA Alumni Engagement Manager (Job Code 9761AO:Advancement Officer 4 - Operations Generalist). The position willfocus on coordinating, managing, and supporting an alumni relationsstrategy that best engages the MHA program’s alumni body throughevents, programs, and communications as well as the MHA AlumniAdvisory Board (AAB) and its committees. This position will reportdirectly to the MHA Program Director with a dotted line to the SPHAssociate Chief Advancement Officer for Alumni Engagement.
Starting Salary Range
The starting salary range for a 50% part-time position is $41,000 -$48,500 annually ($82,000-$97,000 annually at 100% time), and isdependent upon the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications,experience, and internal equity.

Job Responsibilities
The MHA Alumni Engagement Manager works in collaboration with theMHA program director and leadership team, the new MHA AlumniAdvisory Board (AAB), the MHA Alumni Association/Foundation, theUniversity of Minnesota Alumni Association, the University ofMinnesota Foundation, and SPH Advancement to manage MHAalumni-program activities and foster a stronger MHA alumninetwork.
MHA Alumni Advisory Board (AAB) (30% or 6 hours/week)
- Manage and provide administrative leadership for the MHA AlumniAdvisory Board.
- In consultation with the Associate Chief Advancement Officerfor Alumni Engagement, partner with the MHA program director todevelop and implement a well-defined strategy for the MHA AAB.
- Become a recognized source of knowledge and expertise on therole and responsibilities of the MHA AAB.
- Manage the AAB and its committees, including preparing boardmeeting materials (e.g., agendas, presentations, reports, orbriefings), scheduling and staffing board meetings, and ensuringdistribution and archiving of board meeting minutes.
- Manage the AAB’s board nomination, selection, and orientationprocess.
- Work closely with MHA AAB members to empower them to fulfilltheir responsibilities, including managing SPH/MHA commitments,ensuring they are prepared for meetings, speaking engagements, andother events.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with MHA AAB members andother key MHA volunteers to serve as a trusted resource for MHAalumni.
- Drive AAB board coordination efforts with the Minnesota MHAAlumni Association Foundation (AA/F) (e.g., student awards atgraduation, proposals and requests for program funding, ensureUniversity of Minnesota Foundation endowment reports are received,etc.)
- Supervise MHA graduate assistants assigned to alumni relationswork.
Programming, Events, and Volunteer Management (35% or 7hours/week)
- MHA Alumni Volunteer Management
- Develop, promote and manage all MHA alumni volunteeropportunities in conjunction with SPH, MHA AAB, and programefforts
- In collaboration with SPH Advancement, facilitate thecollection and maintenance of MHA alumni volunteer information andcoordinate with Advancement staff to ensure volunteer activitiesare accurately coded within the donor management system
- Event Management
- In coordination with SPH, plan and execute an annual MHA Alumniand Student Social.
- In coordination with the MHA program, plan and coordinate theMHA alumni reception at the American College of HealthcareExecutives conference and the MHA presence at the ACHE Expo.
- MHA Alumni Awards
- Manage the biennial Greg Hart Distinguished Alumni ServiceAward from nomination process to awarding.
- Facilitate the development of other novel MHA alumni awards torecognize outstanding alumni service and contributions.
MHA Communications (35% or 7 hours/week)
- Handle routine alumni inquiries and serve as the first point ofcontact between MHA alumni and the MHA program director.
- Work with the MHA program leadership team and graduateassistants to develop three alumni newsletters per year (one persemester and an annual report) in coordination with SPHCommunications.
- Highlight MHA alumni achievements and actively promote MHAprogram needs and volunteer opportunities on the MN MHA AlumniLinkedIn Group
- Manage and serve as the coordinator for the MHA group on theUMAA’s Maroon and Gold Network.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare management, public relations,or a related field.
- At least 6 years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience that shows a strong commitment tocustomer service.
- Demonstrated experience working collegially and collaborativelyin a team setting and with diverse groups of individuals anddepartments.
- Strong evidence of project management and problem-solvingskills with a demonstrated record of managing multiple priorities,engaging others, and delegating work as needed, while meeting tightdeadlines.
- Demonstrated effective written and interpersonal communicationskills.
- Ability to work a few evenings or weekends, based on alumniavailability
Preferred
- Experience working in industry or alumni relations.
- Experience managing boards and volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and execute programsand events to meet the interests and needs of a specifiedaudience.
