We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Seattle Metro, WA to design HVAC and control systems for commercial construction and retrofit projects.
Impact
- Produce designs that meet owner budgets and energy targets.
- Reduce field changes through accurate, coordinated drawings.
- Support winning proposals with sound engineering solutions.
- Improve building performance across new and existing facilities.
Responsibilities
- Design HVAC, hydronic, and control systems for commercial buildings.
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing.
- Produce drawings, schedules, and sequences of operation.
- Review energy codes and confirm compliance for each project.
- Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, and trade partners.
- Support estimating with scope definitions and equipment pricing.
- Resolve technical questions during construction and startup.
- Document design decisions and revisions.
Requirements
Must-Haves
- Hold a degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent design experience.
- Bring three or more years designing commercial HVAC systems.
- Use AutoCAD or Revit for design production.
- Apply energy codes and ASHRAE standards correctly.
- Communicate clearly with project stakeholders.
Nice-to-Haves
- Hold a PE license or EIT certification.
- Bring design-build project experience.
- Understand building automation sequences.
