Our client is a well established and expanding manufacturer of products for the electric power industry--Due to growth they have an immediate need for a Design Engineer.The Design Engineer's responsibility is to manage the design and development of new products for the electric utility market as well as manage engineering activities related to maintaining existing products.Develop new product part and assembly designs, drawings and specificationsEvaluate and recommend specifications and ensure products meet the technical and functional requirementsReview and analysis of proposed product changesPerform feasibility, functional, and quality testing of designsPerform finite element analysis (FEA) and calculationsManage prototype development and testing.Facilitate creation and approval of Engineering drawing changesRecommend and follow reliable, efficient, and cost-effective proceduresWrite test reports for both internal use and for publicationWork with other members of the engineering staff to ensure project milestones are met and that projects are completed according to established timelinesTechnical support for Field Sales personnelQualificationsRequirements:BSME or equivalent2-5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferredProficient with 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks or ProE)Understanding of manufacturing processes preferred (i.e. casting, molding, machining, forming, extruding, etc.)
