DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role oversees the daily work of skilled mechanics who inspect, repair, and maintain a wide range of equipment and tools used by the Department of Transportation. As a Mechanic Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Oversight: Manage inspection, repair, and maintenance work on vehicles and tools powered by gasoline or diesel engines
- Work Direction: Assign tasks to mechanics and ensure accuracy of work orders, parts usage, and time reporting
- Problem Diagnosis: Guide mechanics in identifying complex equipment issues and selecting appropriate repair methods
- Safety Management: Maintain a clean and safe work environment and promote proper safety procedures
- Staff Supervision: Evaluate performance, approve leave, coach employees, and resolve daily work problems
- Facility Support: Supervise shop staff and manage inventory, parts purchases, and specialized equipment needs
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will need to be available for mandatory or unscheduled overtime associated with general overtime call-outs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of journey level mechanical experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- This position requires possession of a valid Class A or B Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class 4 or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification.
- This position requires one year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
- This position requires possession of a valid Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) by the first day of employment.
- This position requires possession of a valid Hazardous Materials Endorsement (H) within the probationary period.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
