Manufacturing Controller
Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Manufacturing Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a growing manufacturing organization. This individual will serve as a strategic business partner to operations while ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely analysis that supports sound business decisions.
Controller Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee all general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis
- Manage the company's cost accounting system, including standard costing, BOMs, labor, and overhead allocations
- Analyze manufacturing variances, including purchase price, labor, overhead, production, and inventory variances
- Maintain accurate inventory valuation and oversee physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
- Partner with Operations and Plant Management to improve financial performance and operational efficiency
- Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans
- Evaluate product profitability, gross margins, and manufacturing performance
- Coordinate annual financial statement audits and work with external auditors
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and scalability
- Develop, mentor, and lead members of the accounting team
Controller Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or CMA preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- 3+ years in a manufacturing environment required
- Strong knowledge of:
- Cost Accounting
- Inventory Accounting
- Standard Costing
- Manufacturing Variance Analysis
- GAAP
- Experience partnering with operations and manufacturing leadership
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Infor, Epicor, or similar manufacturing ERP platforms
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proven ability to improve processes and lead change

- Multi-site manufacturing

- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Internal controls and SOX compliance
