Backed by the stability of a company that has been in business for 119 years and is the #11th largest General Contractor in North America, this individual will be part of an exciting group that has significant growth projections.The Finance & Commercial Risk team plays a critical role in supporting operational and strategic decision-making, ensuring financial accuracy, managing commercial and contractual risk, and partnering closely with leadership to drive strong business outcomes.Position SummaryThe Manager, Finance & Commercial Risk provides strategic financial and commercial leadership across the district. This role combines leadership for financial performance, risk management, contract compliance, contract negotiation, and claims management.The ideal candidate partners closely with operations to drive strong business outcomes, proactively manage risk, and ensure disciplined, consistent execution of financial and commercial practices.This role requires a leader who can go beyond contract review, clearly articulate commercial issues, and negotiate on behalf of the company to protect PCL’s interests.This is an excellent opportunity for a proven leader who thrives in a dynamic, project-based environment and is passionate about developing teams, influencing decisions, and driving operational excellence.ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Business PartnershipPartner with operations and senior leadership to influence planning, decision-making, and performance outcomesLead the finance and commercial risk team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementSupport development, critical thinking, and succession planning within the finance functionFinancial Management & ReportingManage and enhance district financial reporting, forecasting, and business planning processesDrive performance across cash flow and working capital to improve overall business outcomesEnsure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial informationManages financial due diligence and prequalification to verify stakeholder financial capacity and performance capabilityCommercial Risk, Contracts & NegotiationIdentify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks across the project lifecycleLead contract reviews, drafting, and negotiation activities to protect PCL’s interestsArticulate contractual risks and commercial positions and negotiate appropriate resolutions with owners, subcontractors, and partnersSupport bid reviews to ensure risks, opportunities, and commercial terms are identified and actively managedInsurance, Claims, & ComplianceOversee insurance, bonding, and performance securities to meet contractual and corporate requirementsLead claims management efforts, in consultation with PCL Risk Management, to minimize exposure and maximize recoveryEnsure compliance with company policies and regulatory obligationsGovernance & Continuous ImprovementMaintain strong financial and operational controls and support audit processesEnsure adherence to policies, procedures, and best practicesDrive process improvements, standardization, and adoption of tools and technologyQualificationsEducation & Experience8+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, commercial risk, contract management, or project-based environmentsExperience with legal, contractual, commercial risk, or claims-related matters preferred5+ years of leadership experienceDegree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related fieldConstruction or related industry experience preferredCPA or equivalent designation preferredSkills & KnowledgeStrong financial and commercial acumen, including forecasting, reporting, and risk analysisAdvanced knowledge of contracts, insurance, regulatory compliance, and commercial risk managementAbility to interpret, articulate, and negotiate contract terms on behalf of the companyAbility to influence stakeholders and support strategic decision-makingStrong communication and organizational skillsThe estimated salary range for this role is $191,000 - $210,500, based on your experience and qualifications.
