The Compensation Manager is responsible for the oversight of daily operations and monitoring of the staff compensation process. As a critical member of the Human Resources team, the Manager serves as an internal knowledge expert and lead for designated staff, delegating and checking work and guiding to ensure optimum operational efficiency. Assists in leading compensation operations and projects and serves as an external representative for constituents while providing high-quality customer service. In the absence of the Director, assumes management of day-to-day operations.

- Excellent analytical, quantitative reasoning and problem-solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of compensation best practices
- Research skills and great attention to detail
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel software application
- Ability to supervise and lead a team of professional employees
- Oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact with internal/external individuals within a diverse environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed
- Ability to prepare accurate reports and presentations independently
- Excellent organizational skills, to include the ability to prioritize projects and meet established or anticipated deadlines
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently in the completion of assigned tasks
- Keyboarding skills; working knowledge of MS Word software applications
- Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
- Knowledge of compensation regulatory compliance such as FLSA
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of progressive experience in compensation
- Experience supervising or leading a team
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
- Experience with Oracle Cloud and JDXpert
- Experience in higher education or another complex, multi-unit organization
- Experience leading compensation projects
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or similar certification
