Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Engineer supervises and performs a wide range of maintenance activities, including predictive maintenance, equipment repair and rebuild, electrical work, and maintenance training programs. This role ensures reliable operation of the applications center, including utilities and trial operations, to minimize downtime and support successful execution of customer and internal trials. The Maintenance Engineer also partners closely with the engineering team to drive process upgrades and continuous improvement while supporting food safety and 5S initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and perform maintenance activities, including predictive maintenance, equipment repair, rebuilds, and electrical work.
  • Oversee maintenance of the applications center, including utilities and operations, to reduce downtime and ensure successful execution of trials.
  • Troubleshoot equipment both mechanically and electrically, using electrical diagrams and schematics to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Maintain and update the maintenance schedule for the Food Application Center, ensuring timely completion of planned work.
  • Partner with the engineering team to plan and implement process upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and work with third-party vendors to ensure all inspections, certifications, and maintenance requirements remain current.
  • Support and promote Food Safety and 5S activities within the facility, ensuring a clean, organized, and compliant environment.
  • Set up, commission, align, and prepare equipment and systems for trials in the facility.
  • Support the smooth running of internal and external trials to help customers execute new projects effectively.
  • Participate in all aspects of customer trials, including milling and extrusion operations, ensuring equipment readiness and reliable performance.
  • Engage in continual learning activities and apply new knowledge and skills to daily maintenance and engineering tasks.
  • Operate and assist with production equipment such as CNC and rolling machines, and support mechanical assembly and general shop activities as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to guide assembly, machining, and maintenance work.
  • Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and ensure quality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support operations and maintenance objectives.

The role is based in a large, clean, and well-organized shop environment equipped with specialized in-house machines tailored to the company's processes. The facility supports applications center operations, including utilities, production equipment, CNC and rolling machines, and trial setups for milling and extrusion. Work involves close collaboration with engineering, operations, and third-party vendors, as well as hands-on interaction with mechanical and electrical systems. The environment emphasizes food safety, 5S practices, and continuous improvement, providing a structured and professional setting for technical work.

This is a Permanent position based out of Plymouth, MN.

The pay range for this position is $ - $ /yr.
