This role goes beyond basic operation—you'll be trusted to handle complex setups, maintain tight tolerances, and help drive quality and efficiency across the production floor.What You'll DoSet up and operate a variety of machines including Fanuc and Allen Bradley 4-axis milling machines with robotic loading, grinders, polishers, presses, and CNC equipmentPerform complex, non-routine setups and changeovers to meet tight tolerances and intricate part geometryMonitor machine performance and make mechanical or program adjustments to ensure quality and output goals are metConduct quality inspections and audits using precision measuring toolsTroubleshoot issues and recommend process improvements to enhance productivity and qualitySupport and train team members as neededFollow all safety procedures, including OSHA standards, Lockout/Tagout, and proper handling of chemicals and materialsSafety & ComplianceAdhere to all environmental, health, and safety regulationsProperly handle, label, and dispose of hazardous materialsUse required PPE and report any safety concerns immediatelyParticipate in ongoing safety and compliance trainingWhat You BringHigh School diploma or GED required3+ years of machining or technical manufacturing experience (5+ preferred)Experience with advanced machine setup, changeovers, and troubleshootingStrong understanding of CNC machining and/or robotic systemsAbility to read blueprints and technical documentationExperience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)Basic shop math and computer skillsKnowledge of lean manufacturing, SPC, or CMM/Keyence systems is a plusWhat Sets You ApartStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to work independently and solve complex problemsA continuous improvement mindsetWillingness to support and mentor othersWhy LeathermanWork for an iconic, Portland-based manufacturer known for quality and innovationBe part of a team that values craftsmanship, collaboration, and continuous improvementCompetitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for growthIf you enjoy working with precision equipment and take pride in producing high-quality products, we'd love to hear from you.
