Lead Java Full Stack Developer

Job Title: Senior/Lead Java Full Stack Developer (Hybrid - Rockville, MD or Tysons, VA | 3 days onsite)

Manager is looking for a Lead Full stack Developer with 50/50 Java and Angular, who can work independently and can guide mid-level Developers

Must have

• Java
• Angular, TypeScript, RxJS ( they use Angular 18+, TypeScript 5.4+, RxJS 7.8)
• AWS (SNS, SQS, Lambda, Gateway)
• GenAI exposure for code assist: experienced in using to generate coding, debug and automation

About the Role:

• We are seeking a skilled Senior/Lead Full Stack Developer with a balanced expertise in Java and Angular to join our team. This hybrid role offers the chance to work onsite 3 days a week in Rockville, MD or Tysons, VA.
• The ideal candidate will work independently, drive technical excellence, and mentor mid-level developers while delivering enterprise-grade regulatory technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop UI applications using Angular micro-frontends and backend services (REST APIs, AWS Lambda) supporting regulatory form filing.
• Author and evolve JSON Schema and layout definitions, powering schema-driven rendering and validation pipelines.
• Build and manage the filing lifecycle, including draft creation, amendments, submission, and cross-system validation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship, raising standards in code quality, performance, and testing.
• Contribute to architecture and technical strategy, identifying risks and dependencies early.
• Support production systems and troubleshoot complex issues related to validation, schema mismatches, and lifecycle defects.

AI-Accelerated Engineering:

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools (Kiro, Claude, Copilot) for code generation, debugging, test authoring, schema drafting, and documentation, owning the quality and security of your output.
• Build reusable automation processes that transform AI interactions into team-wide efficiencies.
• Identify and automate repetitive workflows, improving team productivity measurably.
• Design reliable, testable agent workflows using agent frameworks and protocols.
• Simplify code and infrastructure, prioritizing maintainability and migration cost reduction.
• Independently solve broad and ambiguous problems with sound judgment.
• Set and achieve clear short- and long-term goals aligned with business objectives.
• Foster collaborative relationships internally and externally, balancing diverse perspectives and driving decisions forward.

Technical Skills:

Frontend:

• Angular 18+, TypeScript 5.4+ (strict mode)
• RxJS 7.8 for reactive state management
• JSON Schema authoring (draft-07) and schema-driven UI rendering
• Angular Formly or similar dynamic form engines
• Micro-frontend architecture (Angular Elements, multi-project workspace)
• Complex form behaviors and accessibility compliance
• Playwright (end-to-end testing), Karma/Jasmine (unit testing)
• SCSS and responsive design
• Java with Spring Boot (validation and data collection services)
• Spring Expression Language (SpEL) for validation rules
• RESTful API and microservices architecture
• AWS (S3, Lambda, SQS, SNS, API Gateway)
• Observability tools: CloudWatch, CloudTrail, X-Ray
• Infrastructure as code
• CI/CD with Jenkins and Bitbucket, Git workflows

Must Have:

• Hands-on daily use of AI-assisted development tools in production with clear examples of automated workflows and measurable time savings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of experience.
• Production experience with Angular and TypeScript on current release lines.
• Strong Java OOP and distributed systems design experience.
• Proven AWS expertise and production cloud operations.

Preferred:

• Experience with schema-driven development and dynamic form rendering.
• Micro-frontend production experience.
• Expertise in SpEL or other expression/rules languages.
• Performance tuning and optimization skills.
• Background in financial services, regulatory tech, or compliance systems.
• AWS or AI-related certifications.
