Advanced Technology Academy MTSS / Section 31a Coordinator

The MTSS / Section 31a Coordinator at Advanced Technology Academy provides unified leadership, coaching, and compliance oversight for our K-12 single-building campus. Because ATA operates as a single-building district, this coordinator bridges the gap between high-level systemic design and ground-level implementation. The role focuses on managing Michigan's MTSS framework to support students identified under Section 31a At-Risk criteria, tracking student growth seamlessly from kindergarten through high school graduation, and maintaining compliance with state funding guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Unified K-12 Framework Leadership: Oversee and align the academy's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) across academic, behavioral (PBIS), and attendance domains to ensure smooth student transitions between elementary, middle, and high school grades.
  • Section 31a Compliance & Audit Readiness: Ensure all instructional initiatives, personnel allocations, and student resources strictly adhere to MDE Section 31a legislative guidelines for a public school academy.
  • K-12 Data Systems Management: Coordinate school-wide universal screening windows (e.g., NWEA MAP, DIBELS) and lead cross-grade data teams to identify at-risk student populations and measure intervention impact.
  • District-Level Reporting: Collect data and author submissions for the mandatory MDE Section 31a Annual Program & Fiscal Report (APFR) and directly inform the academy's Michigan Continuous School Improvement Process (MICIP) strategies.
  • Staff Coaching & Professional Learning: Deliver targeted professional development and side-by-side coaching to K-12 instructional staff regarding Tier 1 differentiated instruction and Tier 2/3 evidence-based interventions.
  • Intervention Fidelity Auditing: Conduct regular walkthroughs and reviews to ensure reading, math, and behavioral interventions are delivered with high structural fidelity across all grade bands.
  • Whole-Child Support Coordination: Collaborate closely with ATA's counselors, social workers, graduation coaches, and families to dismantle attendance and behavioral barriers funded under Section 31a.
Qualifications

Certification: Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or Michigan School Administrator Certificate.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Education required; Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or Reading/Math specialist certification preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 35 years of successful classroom teaching, academic intervention, or instructional coaching experience within a K-12 environment.

Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience navigating MICIP, MiDataHub, or standard Student Information Systems (SIS).

Strategic Knowledge: Deep understanding of evidence-based literacy/math intervention frameworks, data-driven problem-solving models, and trauma-informed or culturally responsive practices.

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, references, and copies of active Michigan credentials through the Advanced Technology Academy Applitrack Portal or email materials directly to human resources.
