Responsible for the nursing care of patients requiring specialized judgment and skill. What You Will Do

  • Provides practice excellence through specialized nursing assessment, care, evaluation and education to patients and families in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Promotes evidence-based practice by using research to develop, implement and evaluate process standards, such as plans of care, protocols and guidelines.
  • Provides leadership excellence in the clinical practice area.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to learning excellence through professional development and clinical expertise.
  • Demonstrates role clarity through professional competence, expertise, and knowledge, and supports the nursing profession through role modeling and fostering an environment of growth and learning.
  • Promotes cultural excellence with recognition and appreciation for cultural, ethnic, and generational diversity.
  • Analyzes incoming patient information and determines the appropriate plan of care in accordance with protocols.
  • Coordinates patient needs and possible escalation of treatment with physicians and patients when changes in patient conditions are present.
  • Communicates with patients regarding their health status and provides education, coaching, and guidance as recommended by the ordering physician.
  • Responsible for the implementation of orders provided by the physician.
  • Compiles summaries of patient status and data over the course of monitoring.
  • Provides detailed correspondence and communication with physicians on patient progress.

Education/Formal Training Requirements

  • Required - Associates Degree in Nursing
  • Preferred - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Work Experience Requirements

  • Required - Registered Nurse 5-7 years

Licenses And Certifications Requirements

  • Required - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
  • Required - Registered Nurse Tennessee – Tennessee Board of Nursing

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Analytical skills necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively and to develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Synthesizes multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of human responses to complex problems.
  • Proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts and techniques central to the nursing profession.
  • Ability to evaluate problematic situations and adapt to resolve the situation/issue.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and multiple software systems.
  • Proficient in the use of basic office equipment; multi-line phones; and data entry.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Supervision Provided by this Position

  • The Registered Nurse directs and delegates patient care activities on nursing units.

Physical Demands

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform activities such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
