Golf Course SuperintendentProfessional, supervisory and technical work overseeing Pontchartrain Park Golf Course operations and business functions, including pro shop and inventory management, driving range, cart rentals, food and beverage operations and special event support. Work includes managing all aspects of golf maintenance and agronomic operations on the golf course and sets maintenance standards to ensure playing conditions are kept in the best possible condition; and related work as required.Minimum Qualifications1. Sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited college or university. 2. Three (3) years of supervisory experience in golf course management or related recreational operations. NOTE: Additional qualifying supervisory experience may substitute for required education at a rate of one (1) year of experience equals thirty (30) semester hours.
NOTE: This position requires a one (1) year probationary period. No probationary period may last longer than one (1) year. If hired, the employee must obtain Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification through the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry within six (6) months of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Golf Course Superintendent as issued by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). An employee in the classification of Golf Superintendent who is certified as a Golf Course Superintendent by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) shall receive ten (10) percent over their normal rate of pay. * Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify all credentials claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification.
