Derflan is seeking a Global Retail Forecast Demand Planner to support a high-impact consulting engagement within a global consumer technology organization. This highly visible role serves as a strategic business partner across Retail Sales, Finance, Supply Planning, and Channel Management, owning end-to-end demand forecasting, promotional planning, and forecasting operations across a global retail business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced demand planning professional who enjoys translating complex business data into actionable insights that influence strategic decisions. You will own the day-to-day forecasting process while leading monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting cycles, partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders to improve forecast accuracy, optimize inventory planning, and drive operational excellence.

Role Description: Global Retail Forecast Demand Planner

Client: Confidential (Global Consumer Technology Organization)

Location: Seattle, WA or San Francisco, CA (Hybrid – Day 1 Onsite)

Annual Base Salary: Approximately $139,000 + Full Benefits

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage day-to-day retail demand forecasts across multiple products, channels, and global marketplaces.
  • Build forward-looking forecasts using historical sales trends, baseline demand, promotional activity, and channel-driven adjustments.
  • Develop promotional forecasts and scenario models that support strategic planning and business decision-making.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on product performance, year-over-year trends, forecast attainment, product mix shifts, and sales performance.
  • Provide ongoing forecasting support, reporting, and business insights to Retail Sales and cross-functional business partners.
  • Perform inventory allocation and net-short analysis during promotional and end-of-sale planning to minimize inventory risk.
  • Maintain forecasting systems and ensure forecast accuracy throughout all planning cycles.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting processes while developing detailed workback schedules and ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Supply Planning, Retail Sales, and Channel Management teams to review assumptions, validate forecast inputs, and drive alignment.
  • Lead recurring forecast review meetings, communicate forecast changes, document key assumptions, and present business insights to stakeholders.
  • Standardize forecasting methodologies and best practices across global marketplaces while continuously improving forecasting processes and operational efficiency.
  • Lead Global Retail Demand Reviews and provide executive-level reporting that supports strategic business decisions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Previous Amazon or AWS experience is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Demand Planning, Forecasting, Retail Planning, Supply Planning, Business Planning, or related analytical roles.
  • Experience managing complex demand forecasts and promotional planning activities across multiple products or business lines.
  • Strong program or project management experience with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret large, complex datasets.
  • Experience partnering with Finance, Supply Chain, Retail Sales, Business Operations, or Channel Management organizations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within B2C retail, e-commerce, consumer products, finance, or other customer-focused industries.
  • Experience using Anaplan or similar demand planning and forecasting platforms.
  • Experience developing promotional forecasts and inventory planning strategies.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders through data-driven recommendations.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, highly ambiguous environments while meeting aggressive deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting business insights to leadership.
