Role:
Performs computerized tomographic (CT) examinations and procedures, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Positions patients, selects technical factors, reviews orders, and consults with radiologists and nurses.
- Prepares schedules, maintains records, and follows safety protocols, including patient identification and confidentiality.
- Operates imaging equipment, loads contrast agents, screens patients for contraindications, and assists during procedures.
- Captures, processes, and transmits images; maintains equipment and supplies.
- Provides compassionate patient care, explains procedures, and manages patient transport.
- Ensures radiation safety using ALARA principles, records doses, and functions as part of emergency response teams.
- Supervises and mentors student technologists, participates in continuing education, and attends departmental meetings.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of CT technologist experience; preferred four years.
- Associate’s degree in radiologic technology or related experience.
- Licenses and certifications: Radiographer license, ARRT CT certification, BLS, and radiologic technologist certification.
- Additional qualifications include leadership, mentoring, and possibly a bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field.
