Fluids Engineer – Launch & Propulsion Systems
Location: Kent, Washington (Onsite)
Salary: $100,000 – $135,000 Base + Equity + Benefits
Employment: Full-Time
We're partnered with a well-funded, fast-growing space technology company developing next-generation spacecraft and propulsion systems. Backed by leading investors, the business is building ambitious flight hardware and expanding its engineering team in Washington.
They're looking for a Fluids Engineer to take ownership of critical propulsion and vehicle fluid systems, working hands-on from initial design through manufacturing, testing and flight.
This is an opportunity to join a highly technical team where you'll have genuine ownership of hardware, work closely with experienced propulsion engineers and see your designs progress into real flight applications.
The Role
- Design and develop fluid hardware including valves, regulators, manifolds, feedlines, pressure vessels and pneumatic systems.
- Own fluid subsystem development from concept through design, analysis, manufacturing, integration and testing.
- Perform fluid and mechanical analysis including pressure drop, flow sizing, FEA and tolerance stack-ups.
- Develop CAD models, engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Support qualification testing including proof, burst, leak, flow and cycle-life testing.
- Work directly with manufacturing and test teams to troubleshoot hardware and implement design improvements.
- Support propulsion system integration, hot-fire testing and vehicle operations.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
- 1+ years of experience designing fluid hardware or high-performance mechanical systems (internships, co-ops and relevant university projects considered).
- Experience with components such as valves, regulators, tubing, manifolds, tanks or pressure vessels.
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and mechanical design principles.
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, Creo or CATIA.
- Experience taking hardware through design, build and testing.
- Hands-on engineering mindset and an interest in developing flight-critical hardware.
Highly Desirable:
- Rocket propulsion, launch vehicle or spacecraft fluid systems experience.
- Cryogenic systems, high-pressure gas systems or propellant feed systems.
- Valve design, qualification testing or propulsion hot-fire experience.
- Experience working in a fast
