Avionics Technician- Fighter AircraftsLocation: New Orleans, LA 70143 Shift Schedule: 6:30 am-3:00 pm (9x80 Work Schedule)Job Description: Searching for F/A-18 Electrical Technician willing to work on 1st shift at Naval Air Station (NAS) Joint Reserve Base (JRB) New Orleans in Belle Chasse, Louisiana working on aircraft avionics and electrical systems. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at NAS JRB New Orleans in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. This position may be required to work at Stennis Facility in Kiln, Mississippi as required. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S.
Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S.
Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Position Responsibilities:Maintains Aircraft avionics/electrical and associated equipmentRemove and install avionics/electrical and related components and gearPerform Daily, pre and post flight and periodic aircraft inspections.Perform flight operation activities to include daily, turnaround, launch and recovery including plane captain activitiesAssembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul.Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.Troubleshoots complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components.Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results).Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements. Oversees training. Works under general direction.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Minimum of 5 years of experience in military fighter aircraft maintenanceWilling to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekendsMust be able to lift up to 35 poundsMinimum of 1 year of experience reading and interpreting technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsMust be able to work outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumesPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Fighter Avionics/Electrical modification experienceF/A-18 (AT/AE) QualificationsPrior experience with Navy 4790.1 requirements, is preferredTypical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g.
vocational school/Associate+2 years' related work, Bachelor, etc.).
