Field Operations Supervisor -

Position Overview

A growing specialty contractor is seeking an experienced Field Operations Supervisor to lead and develop a team of approximately 20 field technicians.

This position is focused primarily on field leadership, manpower management, installation quality, training, productivity, and labor-cost control rather than controls programming. The ideal candidate will have experience leading technicians or installers within, electrical, building automation/controls, structured cabling, data/communications, or a similar construction environment.

The supervisor will serve as the bridge between company leadership, project teams, foremen, and field technicians to ensure projects are properly staffed and installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 20 field technicians
  • Coordinate manpower and assign technicians and foremen to projects based on schedules, workload, and skill level
  • Provide and oversee installation training to improve technician capabilities and consistency
  • Monitor installation quality and ensure work meets company and project standards
  • Oversee field installation activities involving low-voltage wiring, conduit systems, and related controls infrastructure
  • Track labor hours, installation costs, productivity, and overall field performance
  • Identify labor or productivity issues early and implement corrective actions
  • Work closely with project management and leadership to ensure adequate staffing and successful project execution
  • Help establish consistent field procedures, installation standards, and best practices
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement

Ideal Background

  • Previous experience supervising technicians, installers, foremen, or skilled trades personnel
  • Background in electrical, controls/BAS, structured cabling, data/communications, or similar installations
  • Strong understanding of field labor management and construction installation practices
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, project requirements, and installation standards
  • Experience tracking labor hours, productivity, job costs, and manpower requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop field employees
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance field quality with schedules, budgets, and customer expectations
