Facility Operator, Kraken Community IceplexThe Facility Operator will be responsible for the Kraken Community Iceplex facility and ice maintenance. This position is responsible for driving and maintaining the Zamboni and ice edger machines as well as opening and/or closing the building, maintaining cleanliness of locker, restrooms and public areas and sharpening rental skates. Works with the Operations Director and Operations Manager to ensure a great experience for all patrons.The Seattle Kraken aspire to write a new playbook in sports and entertainment that includes everyone.

One of our core values is 'Make Us Better' and we recognize diversity, equity and inclusion as a critical business strategy.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Ice Maintenance:Maintains strict ice scheduleKeeps constant records and logs for, but not limited to, compressors, ice temperature, and ice thicknessResponsible for flooding, edging, shaving/building ice service as scheduled by Operations ManagerHelps keep back-of-house areas clean and organized so the Zamboni has access on/off the ice.Assures all gates are closed before resurfacing operationsAssists in routine maintenance program of the Zamboni and ice edgerRink Maintenance:Takes the lead on the installation of the sub-floor and picking up when neededPicks up trash, sweeps and mops floors, vacuum as neededEmpties trash bins inside/outside rink and ensures restrooms and public areas are tidyCleans glass and dashers, when possible, inside and outPreferred Experience & Qualifications:Has strong mechanical aptitudeAbility to use independent judgment in the performance of duties when requiredAbility to understand and follow both oral and written instructionsAbility to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writingAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, customers, vendors, and others using the Kraken Community IceplexHigh School Diploma or equivalent combination of experience and educationWorking Conditions:Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays requiredPunctuality and reliability are important in this sometimes fast-paced environment; ice schedule MUST be keptBasic reading and math skills equivalent to HS diplomaBasic mechanical knowledge and ability to learn maintenance skillsGood communication skillsValid Driver's license and satisfactory driving recordSuccessful completion of all required pre-employment background checksMajority of days spent standing or walkingWork conditions include exposure to cold, heat and noiseClimbing stairs, ladders and other objects is often required, along with the need to bend kneel and reachFrequent bending, lifting 50 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairsTotal Rewards Package:Compensation: In accordance with Washington's Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the starting pay rate for this position is $24/hr.
