Facility - Marine Structural Engineer - Technical LeadStructural Engineering - Building DesignMt. Pleasant, SC • Full-Time/RegularJMT has an immediate opening for a talented experienced structural engineer to join our firm. The engineer will be involved in the design of a wide variety of facility / marine projects including commercial projects, as well as municipal, state and federal government structures.

Acts as the structural lead within a multi-disciplinary team and responsible for delivering all structural project objectives including scope, schedule, and budget. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.The position will involve the management and execution of the entire design process from initial framing plan layout to construction administration. A sound technical background is required.

The qualified candidate should possess a high energy level and be a self-motivated engineer who can work within a strong team environment, serving clients on major projects throughout the East Coast.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesWork within a multidiscipline design team and perform structural engineering efforts to support the teamLeads structural team to perform structural framing layout, design calculations, and supporting structural detailing for the development of deliverables such as reports and construction documentsDevelop construction documents using Revit softwareDesign projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing toolsPrepare engineering documents for advertisement and constructionCoordinate with internal and external team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established qualityDevelop and maintain project specific quality plansOversee and manage assigned staff working on projectManage all technical resources on the project teamAssist Office Managers and Practice Leaders with marketing proposalsDevelop and coordinate structural project scope within technical proposalsParticipate in client presentationsLead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of teamRequired SkillsProficient in discipline specific design codes, references and software for structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timberKnowledge of Revit or desire to learn RevitExperience with Finite Element Modeling or Building Systems Analysis Programs (programs like RAM, RISA, ETABS, or SAP2000)General knowledge of building construction materials and construction processProficient in Microsoft OfficeRequired ExperienceBachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering programProfessional Engineer License10+ years' experience in facility / marine structural engineeringRelated experience in design and production of construction documents for structural systemsPreferred ExperienceMaster's degree in Structural, Civil, or Coastal Engineering.PMP or CAPM certification.Experience with USACE, Navy, or port authority / port administration projects.Familiarity with various delivery methods: Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMAR, P3.Experience with sustainability and resilience strategies in marine infrastructure design.Structural engineering (SE) licenseAbility to work as team member in overall groupWorking ConditionsWork is primarily performed in an office setting. Occasional field work at active ports or marine facilities is required and may involve working in outdoor conditions, including exposure to saltwater, marine environments, and varying weather.
