Facilities Technician, Manufacturing Bay Area, CaliforniaWe are seeking a dependable and skilled Facilities Technician to support the daily operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure within our advanced manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on role responsible for routine maintenance, system troubleshooting, and ensuring 24/7 operational reliability across HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background and the ability to respond to complex equipment issues in a safe, professional, and timely manner.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on industrial systems including boilers, pumps, air compressors, and exhaust systems.Client Operation: Monitor and troubleshoot Building Management Systems (Client); respond to alarms, analyze performance trends, and escalate critical issues.Utility Support: Assist in the operation of specialized facility utilities, including Deionized (DI) water, process gases, and compressed air systems.Technical Troubleshooting: Support field-level repair of MEP systems across manufacturing, cleanroom, and corporate office environments.Documentation: Maintain precise records of all maintenance activities and equipment startups/shutdowns using a CMMS platform.Vendor Oversight: Escort and supervise external contractors to ensure all third-party work meets site safety and operational protocols.Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and confined space entry protocols.What You BringEducation & Experience:High School Diploma required; Technical trade school or Associate degree preferred.2-5 years of hands-on facilities maintenance experience, ideally in a controlled manufacturing environment.Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with diagnostic tools, meters, and technical schematics.Technical Skills:Working knowledge of industrial HVAC, chilled/hot water systems, and boiler operations.Basic computer proficiency for system monitoring and data entry.Ability to read and interpret complex equipment manuals and technical diagrams.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in Cleanroom environments (e.g., Specialty Chemical, Pharma, or High-Tech Manufacturing).Proficiency with CMMS platforms (e.g., Maintenance Connection).Active certifications: EPA Refrigerant Handling, Forklift Operation, or Confined Space Entry.Familiarity with LEAN, TPM, or continuous improvement methodologies.Core StrengthsSafety-First: A proactive commitment to following established safety procedures.Accountability: Taking ownership of tasks and responding promptly to facility needs.Collaborative: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.Adaptability: Remaining resourceful and calm under pressure when handling unexpected equipment challenges.
