Job Duties
This role is responsible for preparing comprehensive, accurate, and timely cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep industry knowledge, a strong analytical mindset, and a proven track record of managing competitive bids from initial review through final submission.
• Review, interpret, and analyze project plans, specifications, and RFP documents (specifically Division 16 / Section 26000).
• Perform detailed material take-offs and labor factoring for complex electrical systems.
• Utilize McCormick Estimating Software to compile bids, manage vendor pricing, maintain databases, and project material lead times.
• Collaborate closely with executive leadership, project managers, general contractors, and vendors to ensure competitive, airtight bids.
• Identify potential project risks, value engineering opportunities, and constructability issues early in the estimation process.
Minimum Education Required
• Minimum of five (5) years of dedicated electrical estimating experience within commercial or industrial specialty trade sectors.
Minimum Experience Required
• Software Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency and advanced working knowledge of McCormick Estimating Software (experience with digital take-off tools is highly preferred).
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and deep familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Location: Ability to work reliably out of our Twin Cities office location and navigate regional project scopes.
