Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer (NDI7)


Location: CONUS – Washington, DC (Mid‑Atlantic region)


Employment: Full‑time, Exempt


JOB OVERVIEW


Provide services and support as a Nuclear Design Inspections (EHS Officer) in the Nuclear and Environmental Management sector, focusing on risk management solutions for the U.S. NRC – HQ Acquisition Management Division.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES



  • Ensure environmental health and safety compliance during inspections.

  • Develop and maintain safety protocols, procedures, and training programs.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments; identify and address hazards.

  • Implement emergency response preparedness plans.

  • Stay current on evolving regulations and guidelines.

  • Collaborate with teams to address safety concerns and maintain secure environments.

  • Provide recommendations to enhance safety measures and promote sustainability.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental health and safety, especially in the nuclear industry.

  • Background in environmental health and safety with relevant technical or nuclear context.

  • U.S. citizenship required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strategic thinking and analytical abilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher) and Adobe tools.

  • Ability to multi‑task and pay close attention to detail.

  • Safety protocol development and training expertise.
