About the Role

Our client is strengthening its Enterprise Architecture organization as part of a broader technology transformation and is looking for a Director, Domain Architecture – Enterprise Platform to help define how its shared technology foundation evolves across the enterprise.

This is a senior individual contributor architecture role . You will not manage the Enterprise Architecture or Platform Engineering teams, and you will not function as an embedded project-level Solution Architect.

Instead, you will work horizontally across Platform Engineering, Product Engineering, Security, Operations, and other architecture teams to establish practical architecture direction, reusable patterns and standards across the Enterprise Platform.

The right person will be able to operate at both levels — think strategically about enterprise/platform direction while remaining technically credible enough to engage in architecture decisions, tradeoffs and implementation patterns.

What You'll Do

• Define and evolve target-state architecture for the Enterprise Platform in partnership with Platform and Product Engineering.
• Establish practical, reusable architecture patterns and guardrails across:

1. Cloud platforms and environments
2. Runtime platforms and container/serverless technologies
3. Developer platforms, CI/CD and shared engineering services
4. APIs, integration and event-driven architecture
5. Identity and access
6. Observability, logging and telemetry
7. Security, configuration and secrets management

• Serve as the architectural bridge between Platform Engineering and the product/domain teams that consume platform services.
• Translate engineering needs into platform capabilities and help engineering teams understand platform standards, capabilities and constraints.
• Review architecture decisions with significant platform or cross-domain impact and help teams reach practical solutions.
• Partner with Security, Operations and Engineering leadership on reliability, resiliency, security and non-functional requirements.
• Identify opportunities to reduce duplication, improve developer experience, strengthen reliability and accelerate delivery through reusable platform capabilities.
• Influence architecture decisions across teams without direct reporting authority .
• Help guide major cloud, platform and modernization initiatives while balancing long-term architecture with current business and technology realities.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of progressive architecture experience in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience as an Enterprise Architect, Domain Architect, Principal Architect or similar senior architecture leader .
• Experience working horizontally across multiple technology or engineering organizations rather than primarily within a single delivery team.
• Strong technical understanding of cloud, platform architecture, integration, APIs, distributed systems and modern engineering practices .
• Experience defining architecture standards, reference patterns, guardrails or target-state architectures.
• Ability to move between high-level architecture strategy and detailed technical discussions when needed.
• Experience influencing teams that do not report directly to you.
• Strong communication and executive presence, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs in practical business terms.
• A pragmatic and collaborative approach to architecture , with the ability to adapt to organizational realities rather than relying on a rigid methodology.
• Experience working in a federated or matrixed technology environment is highly valued.

Experience in travel, hospitality, cruise or other high-availability customer-facing environments is a plus, but enterprise architecture experience, technical depth and the ability to influence across organizational boundaries are more important than industry background.
